How do I measure for correct size?
Measuring for a bracelet – Best fit is achieved by having an actual measurement of wrist. To measure, use a soft tape measure and note the measurement of your wrist at the wrist bone to the closest 1/4 of an inch and select that in the Wrist Measurement field. If you do not have a soft tape measure, use a string and then measure that using a ruler. When making the bracelet, I will size it on a mandrel with enough looseness for a perfect fit.
If a bracelet or bangle needs to be made especially large, there may be a price increase. Please contact me before ordering if your wrist measures larger than 7.25 inches.
Please note: If you are ordering for a gift and do not know the size, select SMALL, AVERAGE, or LARGE in the Wrist Measurement field. I offer free size adjustment up to 3 months after purchase, or three months after giving as a gift.
Measuring for a choker – The standard size for choker is 16 inch. Let me know if you want other than 16 inch. Use a necklace you already own to measure your desired length. (Slender or smaller than average women may wear a 15 or 15 1/2 inch choker.)
Argentium Silver ? What is it?
Argentium® Silver is a patented and trademarked alloy that is at least 92.5% pure silver, just like traditional sterling. What makes it different from traditional sterling silver is that a small amount of germanium replaces some of the copper that is usually the other 7.5% of sterling silver, making it a highly tarnish-resistant sterling silver. Closer to fine silver than traditional sterling, yet it is extremely slow to tarnish under most conditions. All Argentium is made from reclaimed silver. It is cared for just like traditional sterling silver. Generally it just needs a little buffing with a soft cloth to keep it looking shiny and new.
What is Gold-filled?
Gold Filled – also known as “rolled gold” is composed of a solid layer of gold bonded with heat and pressure to another metal such as brass. It is 50 times thicker than regular plating. It does not ‘peel’ or ‘rub’ off. There is no better metal for gold jewelry short of real gold. It wears like gold and customers don’t experience any problems with it, and enjoy it for years.
Do you use silver or gold plated wire and components?
I do not use any silver plating components. All of the silver I use is Sterling Silver or Argentium Silver (see FAQs about Argentium Silver). Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver. I use some silver beads and components that come from the Karen Hill Tribe in Thailand. These silver beads are a higher quality at 95% silver. The sterling silver beads come from India, Turkey, Israel, China, Bali, Nepal and the USA, and maybe a few other places as well.
Occasionally, I may use Vermeil, which is 100 millionths of an inch of gold layered over sterling silver, making it 50 times heavier than standard gold plating. No standard plated gold is used in my pieces. The description will state if Vermeil is used.
Recently I have been playing with Precious Metal Clay (PMC) mostly making beads and components to include in my pieces. PMC is a material made of pure silver and a polymer that can be molded much like clay. After the piece is fired it becomes 99.9% pure silver. It is a very fun, yet expensive, material to play in, so I am gradually including it in pieces here and there. It will be stated in the item description if PMC is included.
How do I care for the jewelry?
If you wear my jewelry all the time, it should stay shiny and beautiful. After wearing and before storing, wipe with dry soft cloth and store airtight. If you feel washing is needed, clean with water and very mild liquid soap using a soft toothbrush to get in crevices. Dry thoroughly before storing. Buff with a soft cloth only. If tarnishing develops, contact me about cleaning options.
I have found a professional cleaning solution that I like and I recommend on my jewelry. It is safe for all of the metals I use, however do not use on soft stones like lapis or coral. It is the pink solution by Sunshine Products and can be found here. http://www.glo-techinc.com/
Do you repair jewelry?
I have been asked many times to repair jewelry that has been made by someone else. I occasionally repair jewelry that has been strung. but I work mostly in wire. Normally the beads that were used in the stinging process have too small of holes for my use. However there are exceptions, contact me if you have beads that you would like made into a new piece of jewelry using wire.
Of course, my own designs are guaranteed and I will repair it any time free of charge if breakage is due to a manufacture defect. You only pay to send it to me. If repair is needed due to misuse or accident, please contact me for an estimate. I may need the piece sent to me before giving an estimate.
What is your return Return Policy?
I guarantee my jewelry and I truly want you to be happy with the jewelry you purchase from me. If the item has not been altered or damaged, and if you are not satisfied with the item, just return it to me within two weeks of receiving it, and I will refund the price of the item, or exchange it, whichever you prefer. If you purchase for a gift, I will extend this to two weeks from the date it is given. Please note: There will be a restocking fee of $5.00 if not returned with original jewelry box, ribbon, and tags.
Can you make a custom piece of jewelry for me?
Yes, I do this quite often. I enjoy the creative input of my customers and it is great fun to co-create in this way. Most of my designs are made in silver, but if you prefer gold or copper, many can be made using gold-filled or copper wire and components. I have joined your list but am not receiving emails.
I send about one or two emails a month. Never will I sell or share your email with anyone. I use Constant Contact and they have very strict rules on this.
If you subscribe to my list using a gmail.com account please be aware that Gmail sorts emails into folders. Most of the emails you receive from me will go to the “Promotions” folder. If you do not check this folder you will not see my emails. You can drag my emails to the “Primary” folder and request to receive them in the Primary folder in the future. Also, If you do not open my emails for several months, my emails may go to your “Spam” folder, so look there if you are not seeing my emails.
Other email programs like gmail may have similar folders that my emails can get lost in.

I'd like to buy some jewelry for a gift. Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes, I offer gift certificates that can be redeemed on this site or at a show, and are good for up to one year from day of purchase. All jewelry comes in a gift box with a tag that describes the piece, Care of Jewelry, and info bout me and my designs. The descriptions on the tags are similar to the descriptions that are given of each piece on this site.
How do I order jewelry?
There are a couple of ways. You can call me at 715-892-6431 or use this web site to order. For online orders I accept payment using PayPal. There is a 5.5% sales tax for sales within the state of Wisconsin. I also take checks or money orders sent to: 4107 Pine Grove Drive, Rhinelander, WI 54501, payable to Betty J Christian or BJChristian Designs.
If you call me to order, you can then send me a check or I can invoice you through PayPal.
PayPal payments will show a transaction to “PayPal-BJChristian Designs” on your statement.
I use (United States Postal Service) for all shipping. All orders are shipped from Wisconsin, and prices include shipping and handling costs. The time estimates are from the day mailed.

US Priority Mail includes $50 insurance. Canadian Priority Mail includes $200 insurance. Contact me if you need Express Delivery (1-3 days).
